Mr Bruce Mildenhall
Bruce
Mildenhall was the State MP for Footscray for 14 years
including a seven year period as the Parliamentary Secretary
to Premier Steve Bracks. He also served as a shadow
minister for a five year period, including a period as
Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation. Bruce also
served as a Councilor in the City of Footscray for nine
years, including a term as Mayor in 1987/88.
Professionally, Bruce was a senior manager in the State
Department of Sport and Recreation for seven years, and
worked for many years in sport, recreation and youth
work. Currently Bruce is self employed and chairs the
Boards of State Sports Centres Trust, Western Region
Health Centre and Doutta Galla Aged Services. In his new
role as President, Bruce hopes to use his
experience and connections he has developed in the
western suburbs to help the league grow.
"I would love to see more teams grow in our new and
regenerating suburbs and to see more girls and new
arrivals pick up the sport. I want to see our sport in
our league being the natural choice for parents when
thinking about activities for their children."

Vice President
Mr Barry Lovell
Barry Lovell is a semi-retired,
former Chief of Staff to the Minister for Sport and
Recreation and Minister for the Commonwealth Games,
Justin Madden. He has 20 years experience in the
Department of Sport and Recreation in Sports Facilities,
Community Sport and Recreation, access for disadvantaged
groups, and regional areas.
Barry is a sports participant and coach/advisor/club
official across the sports of football, cricket,
baseball, and is a former secondary school Phys Ed
teacher. He is a resident of Kensington and currently
assists part time with supervision of student teachers,
and mentors young people at the Kensington community
Centre.

Treasurer
Mr Dominic Drenen
B.Sc., B.Comm., CPA
Dominic Drenen has over 20 years experience in the
Australian energy industry.
After graduating at Melbourne University he took
up a role with the then Hydro Electric Commission in
Tasmania in the marketing and pricing area.
After 5 years at Hydro Dominic joined Boral
Energy (later demerged to form Origin) to join the
electricity team just at the beginning of deregulation.
During his time at Origin he has worked in areas
across all fuels (electricity, natural gas and LPG) and
non-fuels (solar, hot water, heating and cooling).
Dominic’s most last role at Origin was Head of
Business Solar and Home Products – a division turning
over in excess of $250m.
Dominic was recently appointed Chief Executive Officer
of Click Energy Group, a fast growing energy retailer
with a commitment to providing low cost energy through a
digital customer platform.
Dominic is the new CEO of Click Energy Group having
moved into the role in late April 2013.Dominic
has been the Treasurer of the WRFL since 2007 and a
Board member since 2005.

Mr Paul Robinson
A director
of an engineering and mechanical testing company, Paul
is no stranger to the league, having been involved in
the WRFL Junior Board and Rules Committee for the past
three years. Initially becoming involved with the league
through his son’s involvement with the Altona Juniors
Football Club in 1996, Paul was elected President of the
club, only recently retiring from the role at the end of
the 2013 season.
A passionate North Melbourne supporter, Paul
is keen to play a fulfilling role in his new position on
the board, planning on improving and growing the league
for future generations.

Mr Ross Williamson
Originally from Scotland,
Ross got his first taste of playing AFL at the age of 27
after growing up playing rugby for Scottish Universities
and soccer in the Malawian Premier League as an 18 year
old. Coming to Melbourne in 1989, Ross has put his
Masters Degree in Sport and Recreation Management into
good use, having worked at Sport and Recreation
Victoria, the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre,
Geelong Golf Club, Sanctuary Lakes Resort and is currently the manager of the popular South Melbourne
Market.
As a WRFL board member, Ross wants to contribute
to the growth of the game in the western suburbs and
continue to make playing football in the WRFL an
appealing choice for families of new immigrants.

Mr Scott Chapman
Scott has extensive
experience in board governance and strategic planning,
chairing a number of boards throughout his career.
Currently the CEO of the Royal Flying Doctor Service,
Scott has worked in senior management in public,
private, not for profit and sporting organisations.
A die hard Sydney Swans supporter, Scott grew up playing
junior football for Templestowe in his younger days, before making a comeback to the Superules
competition, managing to win two premierships throughout
his career.
Elected to the board at the 2013 AGM, Scott is looking forward
to contribute to the positioning of the WRFL as
an organisation that is more than just a game, but a
major contributor to strengthening the fabric of the
West and in shaping young people’s lives through
footy. |

Ms Gina Smith
A former
member of the WRFL Tribunal, Gina Smith has extensive Board
experience including governance practice and
development, and 19 years volunteer experience with
various community sport organizations.
In conjunction with her Board experience,
Gina also has a wide knowledge of organised sport
including sport administration, event planning,
operations and delivery Grass roots to elite
participation at State and National level. A board
member of Seaworks Williamstown, Gina is currently the
operations manager for Hockey Australia.

Mr Bill Baarini
Bill Baarini’s
involvement with the Western Region Football league
dates back to his junior playing days. Bill initially
ran around in the league as a 13 year-old, before
continuing on to achieve great junior success at both a
club and league level. Bill captained a winning
inter-league team for the WRFL and won both a League
Best and Fairest Award and Rookie of the Year Award.
Bill also played for the Western Jets before beginning a
stint at the Essendon Football Club, where he played
reserve grade football.
After serving the league as President for four years,
Bill decided to step down from the role at the 2013 AGM.
Yet Bill's passion and dedication to the WRFL and
community football will continue to grow, having been
elected in his new role as an executive board member in
2014.

Mr Terry McGarity
Terry McGarity
has been involved in the WRFL for more than fifty years,
having started his association with the league as an
Under 10s player at Braybrook Juniors, before playing
Under 19s at Footscray and a stint in the VFA. Terry was
the Spotswood Captain/Coach in the then Footscray
District Football League with highlights including their
1971 Premiership.
Since retiring as a player Terry has
served as the FDFL Umpiring Advisor, Umpires'
Association Board Member and Vice-President, as well as a
coach and fitness advisor to the Umpires' Association.
Terry is a Legend and Life Member of the Umpires'
Association, Life Member of the Western Region Football
League, and has served on the League Executive for close
to a decade.
"Being involved in the WRFL is just purely and simply a
way of life, I've lived in the area for years and have
made so many great friends throughout my time, and it's
great to be involved at a board level."

Ms Meredith Angwin
Meredith leads NAB’s portfolio management and project
delivery organisation which provides services across the
organisation to delivering NAB’s Technology & Business
Change Transformation programs.
Prior to joining NAB in April 2011, Meredith enjoyed a
successful 20-year career in the consulting industry
here and overseas specialising in program management and
business technology implementation as well as client
relationship management.
As a partner of PwC Consulting/ IBM Global Business
Services, she worked across
a range of industries including Financial
Services, Manufacturing, Oil
& Gas, Airlines, Consumer Packaged Goods / Retail
and
Telecommunications.
She has worked extensively in Asia during the
past ten years and was based in Shanghai, Singapore and
Bangkok over a period of five years.
She undertook a
variety of roles during her assignment including leading
the IBM Global Delivery Centre for Japanese clients and
Country Manager of IBM’s consulting business in
Thailand.
Both her parents are life members of the WRFL – father
Ron (dec.) was President for 11 years (1981 to 1991);
while mother Thelma was Treasurer for 10 years (1982 to
1991).

Officer
Mr Bob Tregear
Bob Tregear was
appointed CEO of the WRFL in February 2010. A well known
and respected identity in the football and business
community, he had run his own company Thompson Tregear
Pty Ltd for the previous twenty years, specialising in
management consulting to the sports and leisure
industries.
Bob has had footy running through his veins for more
than fifty years. His playing days started at school and
later in the Under 16s with Box Hill Pioneers in the
Eastern Suburban Churches Association. At club level he
has served as a player, coach, committeeman, secretary
and president with the Lilydale and Mt Evelyn Football
Clubs. He led the restructuring of junior football
competitions in the Eastern Districts Football League,
serving as founding Chairman of the EDFL’s Junior
Committee in 1987-88. In 1989 he was elected as
President of the EDFL and served for six years, retiring
at the end of the 1994 football season.
In 1993 Bob was appointed by the AFL to the Victorian
Football Taskforce to assist in the restructuring of
Victorian football in the wake of formation of the AFL
national competition. That involvement lasted for the
next 16 years, including roles on the Boards of the VFA,
VSFL and Football Victoria. From 2003 until his
retirement in 2009, he served as Chairman of the Boards
of Football Victoria / AFL Victoria. He is a Life Member
of the Eastern Football League and the Victorian
Football League.
Bob’s wealth of experience and knowledge is a welcome
addition to the WRFL Administration. He is thrilled and
excited to be employed in the football industry for the
first time and is committed to the challenge of guiding
the growth and viability of the WRFL in the
fastest-growing region of Australia.

Football Operations
Mr David Newton
David Newton has been involved in
football administration since commencing an AFL
Traineeship with the Calder Cannons FC in 2001. In 2004
David moved onto become the Football Operations Officer
at AFL Victoria where he assisted with the operations of
both the VFL and TAC Cup competitions. David has been
employed with the WRFL since December 2006 as the
General Manager of Football Operations. In 2008 David
completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Business – Sport
Management at Deakin University. |

Club Development Officer
Mr Tim Shellcot
Tim spent the early part of his
working life in the financial industry before completing
a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement (Honours)
as a mature age student. He has
worked in a variety of roles in the sports industry,
including as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with
Tennis Victoria’s junior academy and the Casey Scorpions
Football Club, and as a sessional teacher in Victoria
University’s Sport Management degree. Prior to joining
the WRFL he spent 18 months working with the Scorpions
as Football Operations Manager. Tim played over 200
senior games with Foster Football Club in the Alberton
Football League, and until recently was a playing member of the Elsternwick Cricket Club. He is a life member of both
those clubs.

Officer & Events Coordinator
Ms Lyn McLeod
Lyn has recently completed a qualification in Business
studies at Victoria University and brings to the WRFL
over 15 years of experience within the hospitality
industry holding a variety of roles, including gaining
her trade certificate
as a chef.
Lyn has always had a love of AFL, playing over 11
seasons of football for the Claremont Piranhas and
Melbourne University Football Club after relocating to
Victoria from Western Australia. A headache on field for
many of her opponents, Lyn was named best on ground in
one of her three premierships with the Piranhas. She
actively participates and assists in fundraising for
numerous charities and not for profit organisations with
a passion for disability sports and the Red Cross.

Officer
Ms Kirstie Fitzgerald
Kirstie recently graduated from Swinburne University
with a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) degree; and a
minor in Photography from RMIT University. Her
professional experience includes swim
coaching/administration at the Yarraville Swim Centre,
interning as a journalist at The Age newspaper, and as a
public relations assistant at Baker Smith Management,
the company that organises the annual EJ Whitten Legends
Game.

Bob Tregear said that the League was delighted to find
someone of Kirstie's qualifications, local knowledge and
passion to lead its important media and communications
activities.

Marketing Consultant
Mr Peter Harley
Peter Harley
spent 11 years as Marketing Manager of AFL Victoria
before pursuing his sports consultancy in 2010. Prior to
that Peter held senior marketing positions in the
service and fast moving goods industries. Peter spends a
couple of days per week at the WRFL advising and
assisting the WRFL with its marketing activities, with a
major focus on sourcing and servicing partnerships.
Peter has been involved in football coaching for the
last 20 years in community football.

Administration Officer
Ms Kristy Vidovic
Kristy has a degree in Sports Administration, although
she has spent the majority of her career in the Events
Industry. Her past roles have included some high
profile events, working for Melbourne & Olympic Parks
providing administration support for the Australian
Open, as well as event supply companies Expohire and
Harry the Hirer, where she was involved with project
management on events including the Melbourne Cup
Carnival, Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and the AFL
September Club, the AFL’s premier Grand Final corporate
entertainment precinct.
As Administration Assistant, Kristy is responsible for
all bookkeeping for the WRFL, as well as administrative
support for the WRFL Umpires.

Mr Andrew Muscat
Despite having never playing a
game in the WRFL, Andrew Muscat’s passion for the league
has been unwavering since he first began his involvement
in 2005. Taking
up a role as a stats man with the St Albans Football
Club under senior coach Ryan Pagan (Son of Denis Pagan),
Andrew jumped at the chance to work with local community
radio station 88.9 WYN FM taking stats of all the
league’s biggest games.
Known as the ‘Stats King’, Andrew has worked alongside
well known radio personality Kevin Hillier and league
great Steve Thom on the WRFL Match of the Day Show for
the past seven years. In addition to his role with WYN
FM, Andrew has been working at the WRFL Headquarters as
an Administration Assistant since 2008. Andrew is a very
passionate Western Bulldogs supporter and has been
following the club for nearly 20 years.

Mr Kevin Hillier
Kevin Hillier has been involved
with the League since 2003. He is a well known radio
personality in Melbourne having worked for 3XY, Triple
M, Fox, Gold FM and currently SEN. Kevin is the author
of 'Like Father Like Son - The History of the FDFL/WRFL’
and ‘Rocket Science’ the biography of Rodney Eade. Kevin
also writes for the Star newspaper and is one of
Melbourne's most recognisable media performers from
numerous commercials and from the multitude of MC jobs
he does.
