WYN FM WANT YOU!

The WYN FM team are looking for someone with a passion for local
football and
stat collecting
to join the WYN FM caravan for their Match of the Day
coverage for three weeks in June.
Whilst WYN FM’s Stats King Andrew Muscat is away on holiday, the
on-air role will require you to assist fellow reporter
Cade Lucas with around the grounds reporting, collect
take player and team stats
and keep an up to date record of the scoreboard from the
Match of the Day. The three week role will run over
Saturday June 15th, June 22nd and
June 29th.
If you have ever dreamt of being part of a fantastic sports
commentary team and working in radio, this is the
perfect way to gain some valuable experience.

MATCH OF THE ROUND THIS WEEK (16.05)
The Match of the Round this week
will be Division 2, Braybrook v Laverton Magpies at
Pennell Reserve at 2:15pm on Saturday.
This week Braybrook will be
holding a special 1990-2000 Reunion starting at
1:30pm before the Seniors match, where past players,
coaches and officials can reminisce on the glory days-
all are welcome to attend.
And remember if you're at the
game, tune in to 90.1 WYN FM for an un-buffered live
broadcast of the game, and if you can't make it down to
the match, tune into 88.9 WYN FM for all the latest
results and news from around the grounds that day.

WRFL COMMUNITY MOURN THE LOSS OF CLUB GREATS

The WRFL community would like to pass on their
condolences to the North Sunshine Football Club for the
passing of club Treasurer, Kerryn Jess.
Our thoughts are with her family during this tough
time, especially for her daughter Anne-Maree, son-in-law
Daniel, son Ross, daughter-in-law Kate and her two
grandchildren Samuel and Ethan.
We would also like to extend our thoughts to the
Albion Football Club, for the death of club foundation
President Ern Davis.
Ern joined Albion in 1961 after many years at
Sunshine FC and was the first Life Member and President
when the club won their first A-Grade Premiership in
1965.

LOVETT TO JOIN WRFL
(03.05)
Former Essendon and St.Kilda star, Andrew Lovett,
has signed up with the Deer Park Football Club for
season 2013.
Signing up with the club on Wednesday night, he is
set to make his debut next week in Division 1 against
Albion.

UMPIRING IS EVERYONE'S BUSINESS

This weekend, the WRFL will celebrate Umpire's
Appreciation Round.
In 2013, the 'Umpiring is Everyone's Business'
campaign will see community football leagues promote the
role of umpiring and recognise the fantastic work they
do week in week out for our great game.
So this Saturday and Sunday, please show your
support for all the men and women in white and thank
them for their contribution to our game, for without
them, our game wouldn't be the same.

ANZAC DAY SERVICE
(01.05)
In their fourth annual Anzac Day clash at Pennell
Reserve last Thursday, Division Two's Braybrook
took on competition newcomers Manor Lakes.
In the true spirit of the day, it was a hard fought
battle from all players, with Manor Lakes running out
comfortable winners with a final score 34.11.215 to
Braybrook 11.12.78

PAST LEGENDS OF THE GAME RELIVE GLORY DAYS (01.05)
A number of past Deer Park and
Albanvale players strapped on the boots one more time to
relive their glory days in last Friday night's Legends
Match at
Robert Bruce Reserve.

MULLIGAN BECOMES A WARRIOR (24.04)
Former Gold Coast boy and
Ex-Western Bulldogs player, James Mulligan has chosen to
stay in Victoria, to play in the WRFL as a Warrior for
Hoppers Crossing this year.
Joining fellow ex-Bulldog team
mate, Brodie Moles, the pair have regained their passion
for the game and are enjoying their time in the navy and
white.

FORMER FALCON MAKES AFL DEBUT (19.04)
Growing up playing his junior
football with the Wyndhamvale Falcons, 22-year old,
Majak Daw will be the first African born man to play
AFL, when he pulls on the blue and white for North
Melbourne this weekend.
Currently playing for VFL
affiliate team, the Werribee Tigers, head coach Scott

junior program called 'Footy's Fun for Everyone'. This

MARK WESTGARTH APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF UMPIRING

The Western Region Football League has appointed
Mark Westgarth as the director of umpiring for the 2013
season. The decision was made as the league aims to sure
up its current record number of umpires. Westgarth will
take on the role for an initial three-year term, with
the key objective of continuing to grow umpire numbers,
with an extra focus on retention & training. The league
currently has over 300 umpires involved on weekend match
days, with a recent increase in junior females taking up
the whistle for the first time.

CHRIS O'KEEFE CLAIMS FIRST BARRY PRIEST MEDAL
(06.10)
Spotswood playing coach has become the first
Spotswood player in eight years to claim the Western
Region Football Club's premier honour, the Barry Priest
Medal. O'Keefe polled 25 votes in a tight count, to
finish four votes ahead of Travis Lunardi of Altona on
21 votes, with youngster Kevin Klix finishing third on
19 votes. Previous winner in 2011 & 2010 Tim Jenkins
finished seven votes behind on 18 votes. Brett Miller of
Altona claimed the Division One (Reserves) medal, while
the Allan Smith Medal was won by Robert Ford of
Parkside, who finished six votes clear on 19. FULL

ALTONA CLAIM FIRST-EVER DIVISION ONE PREMIERSHIP

Altona Football Club has won the club's first
Division One Premiership with a remarkable one-point win
over Spotswood, 14.7.91 to 12.18.90. In a see-sawing
battle that saw numerous lead changes, Spotswood's late
charge fell short despite five goals from Jason Cloke.
The win is Altona's first Division One premiership since
the club's inception in 1933, overcoming Spotswood, the
most successful side in the history of the Division One
competition.

ALTONA CLAIM RESERVES FLAG AFTER HUGE COMEBACK

Altona's reserve side has staged a remarkable final
quarter come-back to run over the top of Port Melbourne
Colts, 10.14.74 to 7.7.49. Port Melbourne failed to
score in the final term, giving up a 22 point lead in a
quarter where the Vikings banged home seven goals.
Comeadow kicked three for Altona, with Fogarty, Molloy &
Russo amongst the best.

HOPPERS CROSSING UNDER 18's COMPLETE THREE-PEAT

The Hoppers Crossing Football Club have won their
third successive Under-18 Premiership, knocking off
minor premiers Altona by 25 points, 15.18.108 to
12.11.83. Maglogiannis was instrumental in the win
kicking six majors, with Dorgan kicking 3, McGrath 2 and
singles to Jago, Muscat, Traynor & Appleby. The Warriors
led all day, and will now aim for the double with the
Under 18 Division Two final at Avalon Airport Oval on
Sunday.

FIRST PREMIERSHIP FOR MERGED YARRAVILLE SEDDON
(12.09)
The Yarraville Seddon Eagles have won a historic
first premiership in the club's merged history, coming
from behind to defeat Parkside by 28 points. Trailing by
12 at the first change, and 14 and half-time, the Eagles
kicked nine goals to two in the final half to claim the
Division Two flag. The win capped off a brilliant day
for the Eagles, with the Under-18's winning through to
the Grand Final, and the Reserves claiming the flag over
Wyndhamvale.
